Those from the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds will be among those hardest hits. The aggregate impact of lost time in education will be substantial, so the government has announced 1billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up. This included a one-off universal 650 million catch-up premium for the 2020 to 2021 academic year to ensure that schools have the support they need to help all pupils make up for lost teaching time. The 650 million universal Catch-Up Premium Funding has been made available for all state-funded schools and is calculated on a per pupil basis of 80 Clover Hill will receive 16,560 for the academic year 2020 - 2021 This funding will be provided in 3 tranches: An initial payment in Autumn 2020 A second grant in early 2021 A final payment will be paid during the summer term 2021 Though funding has been calculated on a per pupil basis, schools should use the sum available to them as a single total from which to prioritise support for pupils according to their need. As the catch-up premium has been designed to mitigate the effects of the unique disruption caused by coronavirus, the grant will only be available for the 2020 to 2021 academic year. Use of funds Clover Hill will use this funding for specific activities to support pupils to catch up for lost teaching over the previous months. Schools have the flexibility to spend their funding in the best way for their cohort and circumstances. As with all government funding, school leaders must be able to account for how this money is being used to achieve the central goal of schools getting back on track and teaching a normal curriculum as quickly as possible. Effectiveness of Leadership and Management Oversee the use of targeted intervention aimed at raising attainment. Analyse progress of children in receipt of Catch Up Premium funded intervention. Ensure processes for identifying children with major gaps in their learning are in place, and teaching staff updated accordingly. Senior Leadership team to oversee provision and impact of Catch Up Premium spending. Ensure that the Governing Body is informed of spending, its outcomes and impact through termly and annual reports.
